As you pointed out, it was for procreation but man and woman having tasted it, found that it was good and that it could be used for recreational purposes; hence the rampant promiscuity. Rampnat promiscuity like u said , because poeple are testing the friut before when they are supposed to . In my opinion i believe God might have allowed Adam and Eve to eat that fruit at the appointed time and it would not have been a sin , but they were in a hurry to test it and thats when it become a sin . Sex is holy , God given and enjoyable only when its done between married couple(the blessings of God that adds no sorrow)
