Boko Haram: Christians may be forced to take up arms —Agoro

The patriarch of the Aladura Communion worldwide, Dr Olapade Agoro, has warned that Christians may be forced to take up arms in defence of their lives and properties, should attacks on churches and the challenge posed to the corporate existence of the country by the Boko Haram sect continue.

Agoro, who was the presidential candidate of the National Action Council (NAC) in the 2007 presidential election, stated this in a release on Tuesday, decried the seeming incapacitation of President Goodluck Jonathan in containing the insatiable thirst for human blood by members of the sect.

He said adherents of the Christian faith had been left with theoption so as to prevent further attacks from being unleashed on them as reported in a national newspaper on Tuesday.

Agoro, who also is the Owa’ Tapa of ItapaIjesa land, added that the bombing of churches on Christmas Day was more than a Boko Haram insurgency but an unnecessary provocation that was capable of igniting a religious war.

“If only President Jonathan council can be wise enough to spend half of the N950 billion he has appropriated for non-achievable security and copy the stratagem set by governors Abiola Ajimobi, Ibikunle Amosun, Rauf Aregbesola, Segun Mimiko, Babatunde Fashola and provide jobs, this would go a long way in reducing to the barest minimum, the always readily available free hands for the devils and agents of death,” he said.

He called on the leaders of the main opposition to quickly summon an emergency meeting of all stakeholders in the Nigerian project in Lagos State to avert the potentiality of self-annihilation dangerously confronting the country.
