Do I take off an ring that was given as a gift after the relationship was over?

We were going to get engaged in Mexico, and we broke up before taking that vacation.

Since he alreday bought the ring for me, he gave it to me. He said that he bought it for me, and no one else should have it. I was with him for 8 years.

I am dating now, and after I mention the story they want me to take it off. I tried to take it off but prefer at least one ring on my hand.

Also, a guy mentioned to me that I should take it off becasue guys think I'm engaged. It's on my middle finger, but it does look like an engagement ring.

Am I keeping the guys away by wearing the ring, and should I take if off? It's was a gift to me and it doesn't mean anything!

 @ poster, if u wanna get maaried and u wanna be happy with someone else, take off that fuc*king ring and return it to ur ex. cos mosgt guys will qst u whenever u have it on! some guys are just over curious and they take things too serzly sometimes...so to avoid conflict ..TAKE IT OFF!
