Abuja residents under the aegis of the Grassroot Peoples Welfare Union Forum have appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene in the planned demolition of buildings considered as illegal in communities along airport road.

An appeal letter addressed to President Jonathan and signed by the group’s President, Mr. Tijani Ismaila and Secretary, Ishaku Ayuba,  said the President’s intervention was needed at this stage to save thousands of residents, mostly civil servants from losing their homes as well as being driven to Abuja shylock landlords.

The signatories said they were speaking on behalf of more than 10 communities marked for demolition by the FCT authorities and listed some as Sauka, Lugbe, Galadimawa, Chika, Kushigoro and Karamajiji, among others.
