Somali national U-17 football team goalkeeper Abdulkader Dheere Hussein has been killed in Mogadishu by unidentified assailants, the Somali Football Federation announced on Thursday.

The young footballer was killed in the Waberi district of Mogadishu after he returned from a training session.

“We still don’t know who was behind the brutal killing, but the Somali Football Federation is investigating the matter to find out who was exactly behind the killing of our young footballer” SFF Secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab said.

President of the Confederation of African Football Isah Hayatou has expressed his deepest condolences and those of the Executive Committee and the entire African football family to the family of the deceased, the Somali Football Association and the people of Somalia.
