Six suspects have been paraded in Abuja on Wednesday by the State Security Service (SSS) for alleged involvement in the murder of late Mr. Olaitan Oyerinde, the former Private Secretary to Edo State Governor ,Adams Oshiomhole who was killed early this year.

The suspects include Mohammed Abdullahi, Raymond Origbo, Chikezie Edeh, Saidu Yakubu, Sani Abubakar and Hassan Bashiru . This new arrest will be in addition to the other arrest made already by the Nigerian police.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, the Deputy Director, Media and Public Relations, SSS, Ms. Marilyn Ogar, confirmed that from their investigation, it was revealed that Oyerinde was murdered by Abdullahi, Origbo and Edeh.

The other suspects, Yakubu, Abubakar and Bashiru, were allegedly involved in the buying of stolen goods. They were arrested as a result of Oyerinde’s property sold to them, including four BlackBerry phones, one Ipad (sold for N10,000), one laptop, and a wedding ring.

A 35 year-old Abubakar, confessed buying three BlackBerry phones and one Nokia C5 phone from Origbo at the rate of N52,000 and sold them at the rate of N57,000.

Ogar revealed that Oyerinde’s house was invaded by the robbers as a result of the careless statements by Oyerinde’s security guard, Ali Ihade. Ogar further asserted that it was Abdullahi who hatched the robbery operation based on the information he got from Oyerinde’s personal guard.

According to Ogar “On the day of the robbery, Abdullahi specifically instructed other gang members to tie up Ihiade before getting into Oyerinde’s residence so that Ihiade would not see his face.

“According to the robbery gang, Oyerinde was shot and killed by the prime suspect, Abdullahi, when he (the deceased) ran into his bedroom and attempted to go underneath his bed. Abdullahi said he believed Oyerinde was reaching out for a gun under the bed and therefore shot him.”

She affirmed that three guns used during the robbery had been recovered from the suspected robbers. Ogar further assured that the suspects would soon be handed over to the police after investigation had been fully concluded.

However, the suspects revealed that they were not sent by Rev. David Ugulor, who was arrested by the police in connection with the crime. They said they were the initiators of the crime, contrary to the investigation carried out by the Nigerian police on the matter.

Origbo said they were taken to the politician’s house by Edeh, disclosing that their initial plan was was to rob Oyerinde, but because Oyerinde ran under his bed in fear, Abdullahi had thought he was reaching out for his gun and shot him three times.
