Ahmadu Fons Nwangubi, who represents Mayo Belwa, Jada, Ganye and Tuongo Federal Constituency of Adamawa State, said yesterday that Keshi deserves the right to exclude the likes of Chelsea’s midfielder John Obi Mikel and his counterpart in West Bromwich Albion, Osaze Odemwingie, from the team.
According to him, their replacements so far have proved that they can perform the duties better than the players.
Nwangubi, an ardent football follower, who runs a sports academy in his constituency, insisted in an interview with The Guardian that since Keshi has so far selected the best legs in the Nigerian League and they have not failed him in all their games, he should not be distracted with calls for the inclusion of the so-called big boys in the team.
He warned that doing so might re-introduce the era of mafia in the team, which contributed to the problem of the team. The former member of Adamawa State House of the Assembly maintained that the duo had in recent times presented themselves as bigger than the national team.
He noted that the coach has taken the right decision to keep them away from the team till the time they would declare their readiness to represent the country without any special attachment.
