The state Chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, described those pressuring its candidate for the election, Charles Airhiavbere, to continue with his petition at the Election Petitions Tribunal in Benin as “political jobbers”.
Orbih spoke following a petition by leaders of the party from Edo North led by one Gabriel Ojo and three others, challenging the decision of the party to have its name struck out from the petition at the tribunal.
The petition read in part, “The justice of this case will be better served by prosecuting the case in the court of law.
“That we are unimpressed by the dissolvent theories and or reasons given by Orbih, which according to him, led to his unilateral withdrawal of the PDP from the suit filed by Airhiavbere in the tribunal. We consider them very untrue, unfounded, baseless and lacking in merit.”
However, Orbih described the petitioners as unknown members of the party, saying the party had filed a petition at the tribunal to formally withdraw from Airhiavbere’s petition.
