The police in Lagos have dropped a charge of manslaughter against a female banker, Mrs. Yinka Johnson, who was accused of killing an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Hammed Balogun, last Friday in Ajah, Lagos.

Johnson was accused of driving against traffic and running over Balogun on the Lekki-Epe Expressway at Ikota.

LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Babatunde Edu, had accused the banker of killing the traffic official.

He had alleged that Johnson, who is an employee of Stanbic IBTC Bank in Lagos, killed Balogun while attempting to flee.

He said she fled into Ikota Estate with her Range Rover where she was protected by the security men until a team of policemen gained access to the place and arrested her.

However, witnesses said the LASTMA official was killed by a bus driver, who was driving ahead of Johnson and fled the scene upon realising what had happened.

The banker is to be charged with reckless driving.
