Armed robbers on Sunday night shot dead four persons, including two policemen in a deadly attack on World Oil Filling Station at Ibafo on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Witnesses said the robbers, said to be about 15, came in some jeeps to the filling station, parked and opened fire on a unformed policeman.

When they were challenged by some policemen and vigilance group members at the filling station, the robbers sprayed bullets around the area, hitting an unspecified number of people.

Incidentally, no reinforcement came from Ibafo Police Station, which is less than a kilometre away from the scene.

The walls of the filling station were riddled with bullet holes when PUNCH visited the place on Monday morning.

The entire premises was also deserted.

Armed robbers had attacked Jimken Filling Station a few metres away from World Oil Filling station two weeks ago, killing a customer.

Armed robbers appear to have shifted attention from banks to filling stations in the state.

Last year, the media was awash with reports of attacks on banks across Ogun State, in which many lives were lost and millions of naira was carted away in separate incidents.
