In what has seriously got to be one of the most disturbing stories EVER, jurors in the murder trial of a 13-year-old boy accused of killing his mother heard the 911 call in which the teen confesses to shooting his mother 21 times with a rifle – but not before trying to rape her. The Iowa teenager, Noah Crooks, calls 911 after the murder and rambles on for 10 minutes. He says:

I’m not joking at all. She’s dead. I’m scared. I killed my mom with my .22. I don’t know why I did it. I feel crazy and I know I’m not. I think I have some form of ADD. I tried to rape her. I tried to rape her but I couldn’t do it. Who tries to rape their own mom?
Good question! Noah’s lawyer is claiming that he has something called “intermittent explosive disorder.”
On the 911 call, Noah himself seemed bewildered as to why he had just done the unfathomable to his mother. He talks about how she had just baked him homemade doughnuts that morning. The most he can come up with as to why he may have killed his mother is thatshe took away his Call of Duty videogame.
If I have to hear another story about a teen, a gun, and violent videogames. Can we not get our heads out of our arses and see that this combo is not the best idea?!
Noah seems in such shock as to why he did this, that in the 911 call, he says:
I just wish it was a dream so I could wake up and I could kiss her and hug her.
An expert plans to testify that Noah’s “intermittent explosive disorder” is characterized by “repeated episodes of impulsive, aggressive, or violent behavior.” Well, if that is true, then Noah must have had a history of aggressive behavior. This makes me wonder not only why there was a gun in the house, but even whether this was Noah’s gun since in the 911 call, he refers to it as “my .22.”
The horrible thing is that Noah’s mom, Gretchen, seems the epitome of a good mom. She had baked her son doughnuts. She would write all over her Facebook wall about how “proud” she was of him. She had also recently published an app called “Click ‘like’ if you love your son!” There was no history of domestic violence at the Crooks’ home. She’s described as being a “compassionate” nurse by her supervisor, and she had helped victims of Hurricane Katrina.
We can say the kid is mentally ill — but he had no history of it. We can say the mom didn’t raise him right. But there’s no proof of that either. We can blame it on medications or videogames or whatever else. I personally think too many people simply do not know how to handle anger. All of us experience it, and some of us go off the rails on it. And as soon as the “tumor of rage” — in Noah’s lawyer’s words — explodes and something horrible is done, the rager is left wondering what the hell just happened. The scary thing is that Noah, who shot his mom 21 times, could be out of the system by the time he’s 18.
