quite logical though... here is my solution..... bought d cloth for $97 and left with $3 ok.... 97/2 = 48.5 so 48.5+1 = 49.5  sum 49.5 +49.5 = $99
so d boy is got $1 left after paying a $ to his mum n dad so now sum $99 + $1 = $100..

This is actually very simple. From both parents, you borrowed a total of $100. You have only paid back $2 which means you were owing $98. Out of this $98, you had a cash of $1 and you need additional $97 to pay your debt.
This is the new equation:
$98 + $1(cash)+$1(spent)=100

Therefore.. $97(shirt bought) + $1(Mum balance ) + $1 (dad balance) = $99.

Look at it this way, If u gave ur parents 1 dollar each, dat means u r owing them 98 dollars, u already have 1 dollar and the cloth is worth 97 dollar.. Nothing is missing
