Maiduguri was this morning thrown into pandemonium as Boko Haram and the military engaged in a fierce gun battle.
The attackers who were said to be dressed in military uniform arrived at about 7am this morning shooting sporadically at anything in sight
The Boko Haram insurgents attempted invading the Giwa Barracks, but were repelled by soldiers who engaged them in a gun duel.
Members of the Civilian JTF, a vigilante group comprising of youths in the area were later seen moving towards the scene of the incident with clubs and sticks.
