guys, lets face it. fine, he's got plans but fruitless as i see it. wats the point of a plan that is not effective. dont forget that he was just a state govnor b4 being president sotherefore there is limit to how he can go against the DONS of the nation. OBJ, BABANGIDA, ATIKU e.t.c are just few of these DONS. so we shld stop deceiving ourselves but we may hope for the better. na only GOD fit help us o!. Reply

the niger delta is not the only place with problems. the whole of nigeria is upside down.many think and say the president is not committed to solving our problems, but for me he is no empty barrel. so i want to give him the benefit of a doubt, but certainly not with much expectations Reply

For cryin out loud i hate it when people talk like this...Let's give this guy a break, the fact that Yaradua came in through the machinery of some questionable individuals doesnt mean he doesnt have an independent mind to make his own decisions. The problem with most Nigerians is that we have toomuch expectations frm this administration. He is barely a yr in office and y'al expectin things to turn around so fast? do u want him to perform magic? Y'all must bare in mind that Nigeria is an heteroegenous society with people of diverse culture and ideas, we have inplace some bastardised systems and structures which requires time and patience to ammend.Rome was never built in a day...Lets give him a break pls. He is a workin president and not a sit down n look leader. Its too early to crucify him Reply

I agree that the President has only been there for a short period of time as some people will argue, so he is not expected to perform magic. But the first step to making people believe in your attempt to right a wrong is not by appointing someone that is known and rejected by the people because of his discredited history of standing when it comes to the niger-delta, what happens to a commission that comprises mostly of the niger-deltan leaders with someone from the West appointed as chairman instead? Gambari is the wrong person to chair that commission. And I don't think this president will even go half way to solving the niger-delta problem. the first step to solving niger-delta problem is for the government to start a massive scale project of building roads, schools, and hospitals in those regions, that way the people will be appeased and come to the negotiating table, we don't need no commission, we need money to be wholesomely spent on that region, the cow that produce the milk deserves a fair treatment. I quite agree with u on Gambari issue but that doesnt mean he is not commited to solving Nigerdelta problm. The NDDC has been created by d previous admin to adress developmental issues in that area by the previous admin. what ve they been doing? I beleive its not about the system but the cleansing and discipline of the human mind- premised on NDDC's Performance so far Reply

The NDDC should not be mentioned in any serious discuss about the development of the Niger Delta. The NDDC to me is an instrument of internal colonialism. It's a tool used to deceive the Niger Delta people that the FG cares, while in the real, they dont. ReplyA president that ve the development of the region at heart will not withhold the regions funds.Ya'Adua is one of the funniest Presidents ve ever seen in my young life. They delayed paying NDDC funds till when it's time to pay up,the President said the money has expired. It's like a line from Tom & Jerry. Also, since its inception, there has being complains that the NDDC is being short-changed by the Presidency. The NDDC is not representative of the Niger Delta people. It is an institution created by OBJ to patronize some of his boys from the region.Oyenma Ogochuku & Timi Alaibe are two vivid example. Thus, half of the Commissions funds go back 2 the Nigerian Power Elite at the Center.Anybody with the slightest knowledge of Bayelsa politics will remember Alaibe's demonstrations in 2003 & the build up to 2007 elections.Or should we talk about Ogochuku & Abia state politics?Pls the NDDC is not for the Niger Delta.Lest U wont ve Ondo,Imo & Abia in it.These 3 are not Niger Delta States. It is just an Oil Producing States 'development' commission. If U say the current NDDC is for the Niger Delta, then I 'll implore U 2 find out the meaning of the concept Niger Delta.Had it being,Taraba,Lagos,Kano & Sokoto all ve oil, they would ve being in this NDDC.That show you that the NDDC does not represent the ND.The Niger Delta is a geographical concept & not a political one.So any definition that add Abia,Imo & Ondo is but a political one. In conclusion, the NDDC,is not there to serve the interest of the people of the Niger Delta. It's a smokescreen.A conduit pipe used by the Nigerian Central Elite & the boys in the Niger Delta to exploit,expropriate,de-empower,marginalize,exclude,deceive & underdevelop the masses of the Niger Delta. Thus,it has no place in any serious discuss on Niger Delta development.
