Joseph, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of having canal knowledge of the girl without her consent.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that Joseph committed the offence on Nov. 15 at about 5.45pm at No. 8 Sanctuary Str. Akesan, Ejigbo in Lagos. Shonibare said the offence was punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code Cap C17, Vol. 2 of Law of Lagos State, 2003.
The Magistrate, Mrs Maimunat Folami, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N150,000 with two sureties in like sum. Folami directed that the sureties should be gainfully employed with proof of tax payment. She said that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant. The magistrate adjourned the case till Dec. 14. (NAN)
