First he was asked to pay N50,000 for mobilization so they could help him arrest the man that defrauded him. Secondly, after recovering N200,000 from the man that defrauded him, they refused to give it to the owner, making N250,000. These are the kind of cases I like the police commissioner to read. The story after the cut.

The police in Lagos State have yet to return a sum of N200,000 recovered from a suspect, who allegedly defrauded a car dealer, Quadri Salaudeen, in the Jibowu, Yaba area of the state.

Punch Metro learnt that Salaudeen had reported to the police at the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, in March 2015, that he was defrauded of the sum of N400,000 by a car clearing agent, identified only as Folorunso.

It was learnt that Salaudeen had paid Folorunso the money to clear a car at the port. Salaudeen was said to have discovered later that the vehicle had not been cleared, while the money he paid to Folorunso was not refunded.

Punch correspondent gathered that the police had gone to arrest the suspect in the Somolu area on April 22, 2015, and he reportedly confessed to diverting the money.

It was learnt that Folorunso signed an agreement that he would refund the money ─ a copy of which was with the police and Salaudeen respectively.

Folorunso was said to have paid N200,000 to the police for onward transfer to the complainant, but a Punch correspondent learnt that Salaudeen had yet to get anything since June 2015.

Speaking with Punch Metro, Salaudeen said he paid N50,000 to the police to initially mobilise them to arrest Folorunso, adding that he had not got a naira from the recovered money.

The dealer added that all efforts by him to bring the matter to the attention of higher authorities in the police had yet to yield any results.

He said, “My car lot is in the Jibowu area, and a clearing agent defrauded me of N400,000 in March 2015. I reported to the police at the Anti-Fraud Section, D3, SDCI. The case was being handled by a female police officer, who I know only as Folasade.

“After mobilising them to arrest Folorunso with the sum of N50,000, they were able to recover N200,000 from him. But for six months now, the police have not remitted the recovered sum of money to me. The Investigating Police Officer has been giving several excuses.

“She once said the exhibits’ keeper was not available and so the money could not be handed over. Later, she said she had been transferred out of the state. I have made a report to the police headquarters on the matter.

“The woman was called on the telephone in my presence, but she has not presented herself either to the authorities.

“I am frustrated. This is like double cheating for me. The suspect is now walking free and saying he had paid back all my money, but I have yet to get anything.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, could not yet be reached on the matter.

This kind of thing happen to me when i came to Nigeria, I went into the bank to collect about 300k on my way out i saw some police men and they ask me where i am going, I said i was going to change money to europe that i am just out of the bank, they ask me how much i told them and they ask me what i do i said i am not staying in Nigeria that i came to receive the money for something very important and they ask me to enter their danfo, i was kind of scared because of bad news i read everyday about Nigeria police but on our way going i never open my mouth to say a word, I guess that put them in fear too just like me, so they start asking me many questions that was not relevant and i was giving them my relevant answers, when they see how i was talking with my boldness, one of them know that this is not the kind of person\people they get cheap, he start to tell me to settle with them so that i can be allow to go but i just kept quiet and tell them let us go to the station because i commit no offense and i am too big to be stop because of just about 300k from there i see it in their eyes how disappointed they were so when we get to the station, they search my phones and find nothing incrimenating so they ask me to settle i said i have no money to settle as the money was on budget and they brought paper and said i shuold write statement i told them it was better for them to write it and after I reading then I will sign, (Na there them know say I be bad market,) they went and call one other man that speak my language to rap or blues me into given them something, after enough asking and talking but all this while they refuse me to call but they only allow me to pick my wife calls and they listen to the conversation and ask me to give them something for fuel but i said i cannot but when i think again how police kill innocent people because of their money or even sent hudlums after people i now tell them i can only manage 1k just for bear but after enough abeg from the police I gave them 1500 and they call bike for me and ask the bike to take me to the same place they picked me from but when i was on top of the bike i was still scared and looking front and back, side to side because of strange news i always read about nigeria police but thank God i was able to get away with me money, My question is:

If they person that was in my shoe was unable to defend himself.
what if the person was scared and he could not talk the source of that money
why would nigeria police that was ask to protect life and property they are the same people that destroy the same life and property they were ask to protect.

Thanks
