
A Nigerian football, Francis Ihenwe Oderah has been sentenced to eight years in jail for drug trafficking in Cambodia. Oderah was caught with 100 grams of meth in his possession in Phnom Penh's Choam Chao commune in January.


According to court documents, the meth found on him had a purity of about 72%. The 30-year-old was on Monday, July 4 found guilty and given an eight-year jail sentence at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, Cambodia. Although he claimed to b a footballer, police say Oderah has been working as a drug dealer since he came to Cambodia.
Alongside his jail term, he has also been given the fine of $10,000.
During a hearing last month, he confessed that he just acted as a delivery man but claimed he was not a dealer.
He will carry out his sentence in Prey Sar prison, where he has been detained since his arrest in January.
The Judge, Svay Tonh ordered that three phones and a passport taken from him during his arrested would be returned at the end of his jail term in 2024.
