A new report has given an insight into the discovery of a gold deposit in the remote areas of the northern part of Nigeria. A young man simply identified as Rufa'i Dabo who was in Kano recently has given an interesting account of the presence of mineral resources after he visited Bagwai and Shanono LGAs in Kano. Rufa’i Dabo claims that these two villages are abundant of not only gold but other natural resources. According to his account, the only problem is that the villagers can only excavate a little as they do not have the modern equipment to help them mine these mineral resources. He also shared pictures of the villages digging and searching for gold in the rivers through crude means where they believe the gold could have been trapped. The attention of the Minister of Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi has been called to this new development as it would serve as a boost to the Nigerian economy if well exploited especially during an austerity period that has seen the government employ excessive taxation and other rates to scoop money for the state.
