Why are Nigerians always talking about foreign clubs?

Its not as if we don't have a local league. A Nigerian soccer fan is more likely to know what Drogba had for dinner, than the winner of the Nigerian league.
Is it not time to try and support/promote our own?

what has ur league got to offer?
U cannot even get TV coverage.
Or u want us 2 watch our terrible and corrupt officiating
I could bet that no one was watchin foreign leagues when they were as underdeveloped as ours, so what's da hassle about???

The Naija folks always talk about foreign leagues and clubs with so much passion, and so much money goes into it. Not just that, they've formed strong alliances. They seldom show intrest in Nigerian clubs. I think it has to do with the admiration of the way things get done efficiently outside Nigerian shores (even though it may not be flawless). The folks over there have invested heavily in their clubs to entertain their fans and make money from it. It turns out to be lucrative business and everyone wants to go there. Recently we heard of some Africans (including Nigerians) bidding to buy Newcastle FC.
We can't blame anyone who has interest in the foreign clubs. It's high time we improved ours to meet the international standards, so Nigerians can begin to proudly talk of the local clubs and leagues too.

Our media houses should do more on the promotion of our local league.
