Following Terhemba’s death, Becky’s husband, Chief Joseph Toko, a farmer, was arrested by the police from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for alleged culpable homicide.
Chief Toko, head of Mbakun Mbadede in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State, was said to have gone to attend a community meeting in a neighbouring village but returned late in the night unannounced to meet the lover boy with his wife on their matrimonial bed.
Chief Toko, it was learnt, mobilised his children to beat up the loverboy. Terhemba (the lover boy) was beaten to death and his body dumped in a neaby farm.
The following morning, the suspect reported to the police that he saw the corpse of a young man on his farm. The police promptly arrested him and some of his children.
The late Terhemba’s family, P.M.NEWS gathered, launched a repraisal attack on Chief Toko’s household, burning some of his properties. The police also arrested some members of the deceased’s family for taking the law in their hands.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the late Terhemba’s family were aware of the extramarital affair between their son and Mrs. Becky Toko. They were said to have been involved in settling disputes arising from Chief Toko’s protest of the alleged affair.
Contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Apaluwa Aku, told P.M.NEWS that he was not aware of the incident.
