
A trigger-happy policeman, Sergeant Wilson Ufere has been dismissed from the Police Force for shooting four unarmed youths, and killing 16-year-old Obinna Iwuoha instantly in Imo State.
Ufere, had last Thursday at about 5:30pm at Ugwu Omiri Lawyer area, on the busy Anara-Umuahia Expressway while on a road duty with two other colleagues, shot at a group of youths on a church procession. He killed Iwuoha instantly, and left three others gravely wounded.
The state Police Spokesman, DSP Andrew Enwerem said Ufere has been dismissed from the force after he was found guilty during an orderly room trial while the other two Policemen on duty at the scene are facing internal Police disciplinary measures.
Enwerem said Ufere will soon be arraigned for the death of Obinna before a competent court in the State.
The three others victims: Tochukwu Uzoukwu, 25 years; Chukwuebuka Donatus, 24 years; and Chigozie Iwuala, 28 years, have been in coma since Thursday after sustaining different degrees of injuries from gun shots from Ufere.
Eyewitnesses reported that the youths, mainly teenagers who were on a rally last Thursday, for their church crusade which was billed to start on March 25 had a flat tyre at Ukwu Omiri, a few meters away the Police check point.
