The House of Representatives member representing Ikene/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, Mr Oladipupo Adebutu has escaped assassination in Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun state on Wednesday night, July 5.
According to reports, some suspected political thugs shot at his convoy at about 7pm killing one of his supporters in the Oke-Ide area of the town. The legislator was said to be returning from a meeting of the Ogun West Senatorial District Peoples Democratic Party in Aiyetoro, headquarters of Yewa North Local Government area. He was said to have made a stop-over in Ota to pay a solidarity visit to some arrested party members when he was attacked. According to an eyewitness, an unidentified supporter of the lawmaker, who was also part of his convoy, was hit by a stray bullet and died on the spot.
