Kebbi State security committee,  comprising of all security agencies headed by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, Major General Isa Dan Hane (rtd) has arrested robbers, kidnappers and cattle rustling suspects.
Gistmania gathered that intelligence reports prompted army operatives at Dukku Barracks, Birnin-Kebbi, to storm the hideouts  of the suspects where items including 68 riffles, 25 pistols and 2 AK47 rifles were recovered from them.
The suspects were brought to the Government House in Birnin-Kebbi  by the Commanding Officer of the 1 Battalion, Dukku Barracks, Captain Aliu Adams, in company of Hane.
Addressing journalists after displaying some of the dangerous arms recovered, Hane said the suspects were arrested at Koko, Bagudo, Yauri and Zuru areas of the state.
He said they had been terrorising motorists and passengers on the Jega- Koko-Yauri highway for many months before they were apprehended by security agents under the security committee that was constituted by the state government.
“With the arrest of these suspects Jega-Koko-Yauri high way is now free for motorists and other road users. Their arrest was based on the intelligence report and surveillance by security agents under our security committee.”
He added that some suspected armed robbers and kidnappers earlier arrested by his committee repented and gave useful information which led to the arrest of other members of the various gangs.
In his speech Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu commended the committee, promising the state government’s assistance to equip it with more equipment to carry out its duties.
