The FCT police command has arrested 42 people over alleged involvement in kidnapping, rape, impersonation, car theft and ‘one chance’ robbery.
Parading the suspects before journalists, Wednesday at the command headquarters Abuja, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Bala Ciroma, said 26 suspected members of different kidnap syndicates operating along Kuje, Rubochi, Kwali and Abaji axis were arrested in the on-going joint counter kidnapping operation involving the Police, the Military and other security agencies tagged: Operation Sharan Daji.
He said the suspects include one Usman Abdullahi, 40, just as exhibits recovered from some of the suspects include four locally fabricated fire arms; one Dane gun with 10-round cylinder loader; four cartridges, three cutlasses, three face masks, 24 wraps of dry leafs suspected to be marijuana, several identity cards and charms.
Ciroma said police operatives attached to Gwagwalada Area Command acting on a tip off, on October 28, 2019, arrested one Juri Abubakar, 30, a member of a kidnap syndicate at Yangoji.
