In Nigeria’s Pidgin English, “Sidon Look’’ means a state of hopelessness to some people, to others it may mean-Let the Sleeping Dog lie or Let them do the thing the way they want it, after all ‘’what is my business’’?
Election is fast approaching and some people are doing ‘’Sidon Look’’ and yet we cry out that our Leaders are corrupt, our Leaders are not good, this and that.
But how can we now correct these social and political ills in our society?
There is only one way out, and that is by us stopping the ‘’SIDON LOOK’’ posture.
Election is not synonymous as my vote will not count. Therefore, for a giant country like ours we must stand up and fight for our vote and ensure that our votes are counted.
Put -off the garment of ‘’big-manisim’’ and get registered and make sure you vote in the candidate of your choice, ensure that you do not leave the polling station after casting your votes. Wait to hear the winner of the voting exercise. Remember, if the wrong leaders are elected or re-elected, you and I will still bear the brunt, therefore elect wisely and make sure that your vote count and are counted!!
