A 32-year-old Nigerian man recently evacuated from Dubai has died of coronavirus infection in Lagos State.

Recall that the Federal Government had on May 6, 2020, evacuated 256 Nigerians from the United Arab Emirates (Dubai).

During a briefing on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Prof Akin Abayomi said one of the Nigerians evacuated from Dubai has died of COVID-19 complications.

According to him, the deceased was evacuated back to the country last week Wednesday with severe underlying health condition.

Abayomi said the unfortunate incident brings to 34 the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Lagos state.

”Unfortunately, another COVID-19 infection related death involving 32-year-old, male has been recorded.

“The deceased recently returned from Dubai with severe underlying health condition following evacuation of Nigerians in foreign countries by presidential task force on COVID-19.

“I urge Lagosians to remain committed to rules guiding COVID-19 infection prevention regardless of relaxation of lockdown,”
he said.
