A three-man delegation of the NWC comprising the Deputy National Chairman, Alhaji Haliru Mohammed Bello; National Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje and National Legal Adviser, Chief Olusola Oke, Vanguard learnt, was mandated to see President Goodluck Jonathan over the national chairman’s authoritative conduct.
The uproar occurred during a meeting of the NWC in Abuja.
Vanguard learnt that the NWC members were peeved by what they alleged to be his unilateral action in ordering fresh congresses in some States including his (Nwodo’s) home State of Enugu.
The NWC members, during the meeting, complained that they were not taken along in the decision on the fresh congresses which they described as “unilateral.”
The action of the NWC followed strong denunciation of Chief Nwodo’s order which they claimed was capable of upturning their governors’ chances of winning re-election in the forthcoming 2011 election.
The order for fresh congresses followed the order by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which observed that congresses in the affected States were either not held or conducted in the breach.
Nwodo is currently in the United States on medical vacation. His Media Assistant, Mr. Ike Abonyi, however, denied any uproar against his principal when contacted, yesterday.
