THE initial measure taken by the House of Representatives to prevent endless litigation on the outcome of governorship election came to naught on Thursday as it passed a harmonised report of second amendment to the 1999 Constitution.

In the current political dispensation, all governorship election petitions end at the appeal court, whereas the proposed bill, if passed into law, will extend the process of litigation on election petitions to the Supreme  Court.
