Mike Ozekhome, a human rights lawyer, has revealed why the Department of State Services, DSS, released Nollywood veteran Chiwetalu Agu.
Ozekhome (SAN) stated that Agu was freed after his phones were examined and nothing incriminating was discovered.
The 65-year-old actor was apprehended by the Nigerian Army last Thursday in Onitsha, Anambra State, for donning Biafra regalia.
Soldiers apprehended him on Upper Iweka Bridge as he was participating in a charity event.
Agu was, however, released by the Nigerian Army on Friday, but was re-arrested by DSS operatives.
The secret police was said to have transferred the veteran actor to Abuja for interrogation.
However, Ozekhome said Agu committed no offence to warrant his arrest.
He disclosed this in a statement he signed titled: ‘Chiwetalu Agu Released By DSS’.
