FCE Yola Shut Down Indefinitely After Students’ Protest Over Water Scarcity Turned Bloody

The Federal College Of Education (FCE) Yola, Adamawa State, has ”closed down till further notice”.

This is as a peaceful protest by irate students over the water scarcity that hit the campus, turned violent on Tuesday, with students burning tyres and restricting vehicular movement.

According to a statement by the office of the Chief Press Secretary to Adamawa State Deputy Governor, the the decision to closed down the school was in order to forestall a breakdown of law and order as the protest was skyrocketing into violent.

The statement titled, ‘FCE YOLA CLOSED DOWN TILL FURTHER NOTICE’, reads: “The Summary of what is happening in FCE Yola is that there was a breakdown of the borehole and within 24hrs as management was trying to get the situation fixed,.water scarcity bit so hard that irate students started protesting.

“The protest was about to get violent and in order to forestall a breakdown of law and order the school was cordoned off by security agents.

“Some students attempted to escalate the matter even outside the school by burning tyres. Presently the situation has been brought under control and The institution is closed till further notice, students are to vacate the institution within the next two hours so as to prevent further damage and to bring the situation under control until normalcy is restored.”
