Nigerian Player Dies on The Soccer pitch!

Tragedby befell the Nigerian Premier League during the weekend when Ocean Boys’ defender Emmanuel Ogoli collapsed during a league contest against Niger Tornadoes at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.

Ogoli was rushed to hospital when he slumped to the ground after 39 minutes of a game that the Ocean Boys eventually won 2-0. But the report of his death on the way to hospital at the end of the game threw the Ocean dressing room into mourning.

Ogoli had suffered a “horror injury” in a November game against Plateau United on the same pitch. He was only just returning to the team when his death occurred.

The exact reason for his passing is not yet official, but with a number of players throughout the world experiencing heart attacks in recent seasons, it is speculated that Ogoli could have suffered a similar fate.
