Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described himself as audacious enough to secure a third term in office as Nigeria’s president.

Obasanjo stated this while speaking at a virtual meeting organised by Africa Leadership Group on Thursday.

He said, “I never asked for a third term. If I wanted a third term, I would have got it. I am audacious enough to know how to get it.”

Obasanjo refuted claims that he wanted a third term as President of the country.

Noting that no constitution was perfect, Obasanjo called for an amendment of the 1999 constitution.

He said, “Some people blame the constitution for everything in Nigeria. Of course, our constitution is not perfect, and there is no constitution that is sacrosanct and it can be amended.”

According to Obasanjo, part of what should be included in the amended constitution is the devolution of power.

Meanwhile, the former president said he will not join the campaign train of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, saying he has done his best by writing his endorsement.

Recall that Obasanjo, had in his New Year message to Nigerians, titled “My appeal to all Nigerians particularly young Nigerians,” endorsed Obi for presidency.

Obasanjo said, “I am not in campaign train. I’ve used benefit of my experience and I’ve put plainly.

“I do not belong to any political party. I will not join any campaign train. I’ve said what is best for the country.”

On the qualities of an ideal Nigeria’s president, Obasanjo said, “Nigeria is where we are because of leadership.

“We must decisively look for men and women who have the character, attributes, skill and attitude that we need for leadership, that will deliver in this country.”

The former president, however, said he had no regret leading Nigeria.

Coming from a man who knelt down before Atiku, Dr Orji Kalu, IBB and many others to beg them to support his aborted 3rd term attempt. This man clearly suffers from Amnesia. Or he is just a dawn right professional liar.

You may and you may not wanted it but what is true is that if the move for third term was that necessary and you are up for it, the ghost powerful rulers behind the Nigerian government will be ready to tackle you cos it's against their plans and once that happens then it'll lead to another coup or maybe civil war or maybe greater chaos which infact would threaten Nigeria's stance in AU and UN.... and the masses? Well they will suffer more so thank God the move wasn't made at least you know that.

The whole thing that time was just like the normal Nigerian politics package. Some groups were asking him to continue, some were even begging him, marching for him and stuff. So, you never can tell if he was behind it all or not. One can learn from when some people bought the APC form of 100 Million naira for Goodluck Jonathan, and it happened that he was not part of that plan. Some of us actually thought that he was the one doing it via proxies.

Hehehe....well maybe only a few who doesn't know their left from right might believe that fantasy. You can do as you like in your 4/8 year term...but when that time is up, you are going! So NO, absolutely NO way you could have spent a day more than your time in office....and oh, yes, you wanted it! Yes you did! You just couldn't get it. Rest sir, make peace with your Lord and rest.

I'm sorry to say. This man is suffering from Amnesia plus Dementia together.
Also is a professional and pathetic liar
He did everything to make his 3rd term a reality.
One of the reason he hated Atiku and Orji Kalu with passion till today was because they're in the front line of kicking against his 3rd term ambition. He reduced Orji Kalu to nothing by confiscating his Slok Airline licence.  He stood firmly against Atiku's political ambition.
I pitied those who are following this man stupidly like a lost lamb. Especially Peter Obi.Obasanjo has a penchant for endorsing a failure. During his 2nd term bid. There was a polling booth outside his house in Abeokuta.  He lost woefully there.
He should have been taken to Care Home for the Demented Adults.
* Ask him what killed Bola Ige? He killed Bola Ige simply because Ige resigned from his cabinet. He knew with Bola Ige coming home to join Afenifere. Afenifere would be a hard nut to crack when it comes to he, Obasanjo's 3rd term bid. So Ige has to go.
* Ask him. Why did he hates Tinubu? He wanted to be seen as our modern day Awolowo and great Yoruba leader.
That's exactly the ambition Tinubu's chasing. The clash of interest pitched him against Tinubu.
Obasanjo should for sanity go and sit down. He has gone senile.
