The campaign council for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has dismissed Atiku Abubakar’s threat to contest the election result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Tinubu was declared the winner of the presidential poll with 8,794,726 votes, while Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 6,984,52 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) polled 6,101,533 votes.
The LP and PDP had asked for the resignation of INEC Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood, and demanded that the presidential election be conducted afresh. Abubakar alleged fraud and vowed to challenge the result.
The APC campaign council spokesperson, Festus Keyamo, dismissed Abubakar’s bid, saying that he was unelectable due to his failure to unite his party and manage post-primaries fall-out. Keyamo also referenced Abubakar’s alleged mode of siphoning public funds while in office.
The spokesperson welcomed Abubakar’s decision to challenge the result and stated that they were prepared to meet his challenge anytime, anywhere.
