Hundreds of residents took over the streets of Asaba, the Delta State capital on Friday to protest an alleged manipulation of the results of some local government areas in Thursday’s governorship rerun.

The protesters broke through the security barricade on NTA Road leading to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s office before they were stopped from gaining entry into the commission’s office.

The protesters warned of dire consequences if INEC failed to discountenance the results announced for Warri North, Warri South, Bomadi and Ethiope West, where they alleged that figures announced were far above actual votes recorded.
