There was disquiet on the floor of the Senate as lawmakers move motion to suspend the screening of former Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo.

The senators went into a rowdy session when Keyamo appeared before the Senate on Monday for his ministerial screening.

Senator Darlington Nwokocha, representing Abia Central senatorial district, moved for the motion to suspend the screening of the ministerial nominee.

The point of order was seconded by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia-South Senatorial District of Abia state.

Abaribe, who referenced Order 88 (b), moved that the Senate step down the ministerial screening “proceeding the time the national assembly has the power to look into the issues around the ministerial nominee and his ministry.”
