Erling Haaland Denied Ballon d’Or Award Because He Made Ronaldo His Role-Model – Fans Lament

A section of football fans does not believe Lionel does not deserve to be given the Ballon d’Or award this evening.

The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner will be announced tonight but the winner is already known.

Leaked papers showed that Lionel Messi would be going home with his eight Ballon d’Or.

Messi won the FIFA World Cup, the Coppa America and the French Ligue 1 title in 2022 while his closest challenger, Erling Haaland, helped Manchester City to their first ever Champions League trophy; the Premier League as well as the FA Cup titles.

Some fans feel that Haaland has been denied the award because he looks up to Cristiano Ronaldo.

“It has gotten to the level that the system now deprives players that look up to Ronaldo from winning the award.

This year was tight but if it was Haaland who won the World Cup and Messi winning the treble, the narrative would be that Messi won so many awards. Rigged!” One of the fans wrote on X.

“Best player of the year epl, best young player of the year epl , golden boot uefa ,golden boot epl, euro best player of the year, no one has these individual awards more than him,team awards treble ,and more, ha ha the ballon d’or goes to messi what a joke!” Another wrote.

However, some others believe that “Messi had a phenomenal season in 2022-23. He led Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title and the UEFA Champions League final. He also won the Copa America with Argentina. Messi is a complete footballer. He is a brilliant goalscorer, passer, and dribbler. He is also a great leader and team player.”

Other footballers should just stop attending this event. I'm sure Messi owns shares in the organising company.
Even if Messi didn't play for a whole year. He'll still win this award.
