The head pastor of a prominent church, Pastor Bolaji Idowu, has recently come under fire from Nigerians due to a statement he made on social media.
Taking to Twitter, he declared his confidence in his family's well-being despite the challenging economic climate, stating, "Even in times of scarcity, my family and I will find contentment."
However, this statement was met with disappointment and criticism from netizens, who perceived it as selfish.
Some of the comments included:
Satoru: "There comes a point where if your neighbor is suffering, you cannot claim innocence, and more importantly, you should be concerned for their welfare."
Yemi The Ambivert: "Personally, I find it selfish to respond 'amen' to such prayers. What happened to striving for a society where everyone's standard of living is uplifted? But perhaps, that's just my perspective."
Iremu Amir: "Indeed, this mindset is a product of the indoctrination passed off as religious teachings. While you pray for your own family's welfare, what about others? We've inadvertently promoted self-centeredness in the guise of Christianity. It's disheartening to see leaders pray for their followers' subservience. Is this realization not evident?"
