In a significant breakthrough, the Zamfara State Police Command has successfully apprehended seven individuals suspected to be involved in the brutal killing of Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada. The cleric met a tragic end on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in Mada town, Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, allegedly at the hands of individuals believed to be members of the Community Protection Guards (CPG).
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Dalijan, made this announcement during a press briefing held at the command headquarters in Gusau on Thursday evening, March 28. Presenting the suspects before members of the press and representatives of the Izalatul Bidi’a wa’ikamatus Sunnah, CP Dalijan emphasized the commitment of the police to ensuring justice for the slain scholar and his family.
In addition to the arrests related to Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada's murder, CP Dalijan disclosed that the police had also apprehended Kabiru, a suspect allegedly involved in the burning of a police operational vehicle and an attack on the residence of a former Chairman of the National Union office Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Furthermore, the commissioner revealed the arrest of two individuals identified as Anas-Ruwa Tukur and Tijjani Aliyu, who are suspected to have supplied ammunition to a notorious terrorist kingpin known as Bashari, operating in the Shinkafi and Kaura Namoda areas of Zamfara State.
Additionally, CP Dalijan highlighted the arrest of two suspects allegedly involved in forging documents to falsely claim ownership of 40 cows in Zamfara State.
Assuring the public of diligent investigation and prosecution, CP Dalijan affirmed that the arrested suspects would be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction to face possible prosecution for their alleged involvement in various criminal activities.
