With Easter festivities on the horizon, the Department of State Services (DSS) has taken proactive steps by releasing dedicated mobile numbers for citizens to report any security breaches during the holiday season.

In a statement issued by Peter Afunanya, the Director of Strategic Communications for the DSS, Nigerians were reminded to exercise caution and refrain from engaging in activities such as the consumption of illicit drugs and excessive alcohol during the Easter celebration.

The DSS emphasized the significance of this period for reflection, urging citizens to draw inspiration from the values of forbearance and humility exemplified by Jesus Christ. Afunanya stressed the importance of fostering unity, peace, and inclusiveness in Nigeria, calling on individuals to embody self-control, discipline, and compassion in their interactions.

Furthermore, the statement urged citizens to reject divisive behaviors such as spreading fake news, hate speech, and engaging in violence. It emphasized the need for vigilance and encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities or security threats to law enforcement agencies promptly.

To facilitate this, the DSS provided contact information including their website, email address, and telephone lines for citizens to reach out in case of emergencies or security concerns.

As Nigeria prepares for Easter celebrations, the DSS reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, calling for collective efforts in upholding peace and harmony throughout the nation.

“Consequent upon these, everyone is urged to be vigilant and report attempts to breach security to relevant law enforcement agencies. The DSS website http://dss.gov.ng; email address- [email protected] and telephone lines +234915 339 1309; +234 908 837 3514 remain relevant for public guidance.”
