In a significant victory against drug trafficking, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a massive consignment of Colorado, a synthetic strain of hemp, at the Tincan Seaport in Lagos. The seizure, amounting to 2,144 parcels and weighing 1,072kg, was announced by Mr. Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA, in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja.

Babafemi revealed that the operation, conducted by NDLEA operatives in collaboration with Customs Service officials and other stakeholders, resulted in the successful interception of the illegal consignment on Wednesday, April 3. The container, identified as marked GAOU 6699215, had originated from Toronto, Canada, but was destined for Lagos via Montreal.

The drugs, meticulously concealed in various items, were packed in 46 jumbo bags hidden within used vehicles, including a 2009 Lexus RX 350, a 2011 Toyota Sienna, and a 2009 Lexus ES 350. Additionally, they were found concealed in used engines, automobile doors, tyres, and household goods, as well as large drums loaded into the container.

The interception underscores the NDLEA's unwavering commitment to combatting drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of Nigerian citizens.
