In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) in Oyo State, at least six students have been apprehended by the police in connection with the brutal murder of their fellow student, identified as Alex Timileyin.
Reports indicate that the arrested students allegedly attacked Alex after accusing him of being in possession of a missing iPhone 12 Pro Max on the night of Friday, May 24, 2024.
The disturbing incident unfolded at Shepherd’s Inn hostel, where the students reside. According to eyewitnesses, the assailants forcibly stripped Alex, shaved his head, and subjected him to a prolonged gang beating from 10 pm on Friday until 6 am the following Saturday.
Tragically, Alex was later abandoned in the rain, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim, identified as a 200-level Engineering student, was discovered lifeless in front of the hostel on Saturday morning, sending shock and grief rippling through the university community.
The police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter, and the arrested students are expected to face legal proceedings over their alleged involvement in the heinous crime. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice as authorities work to uncover the full details surrounding Alex's untimely demise.
