Actress Bisola Aiyeola has candidly addressed her decision to withhold a phone from her 15-year-old daughter, despite facing criticism from some quarters.
During an appearance on the show “Mums Next Door” with Maria Chike, Bisola shared that her approach has drawn judgment from those who consider her overly strict. However, she stands firm in her belief that her daughter's safety is paramount.
Bisola explained that her daughter currently uses a laptop for schoolwork and maintains communication with friends via Zoom. The decision to extend the phone ban came after Bisola discovered her daughter had created a smart chat account on her laptop without permission. As a disciplinary measure, she decided to delay giving her a phone for another year.
Emphasizing her priorities, Bisola stated, “I’m focusing on my daughter’s well-being and safety, even if it means going against societal expectations.”
Some people feel like I'm being overprotective by not allowing my daughter use a phone until she's 17 — Bisola Aiyeola pic.twitter.com/ux5VmKHoqB
