Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has expressed strong disapproval of women who use makeup before their weddings, labeling them as "fools" for not trusting in God’s creation.
Speaking at the RCCG ministers' conference during the church’s National Convention on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Adeboye criticized the practice of extensive makeup application by brides. He argued that such actions reflect a lack of faith in the perfection of God’s handiwork.
"At the beginning, things were not like this," Adeboye remarked. "When you marry, you should live within your means. It is troubling to see how much is spent on extravagant photo shoots and decorations."
He continued, "Women who apply heavy makeup are those who do not believe that God did a good job when He created them. God made you wonderfully and uniquely. To think that you can improve upon what God has already perfected is folly."
Pastor Adeboye’s comments are part of a broader critique of contemporary wedding practices that he believes are driven by worldly influences rather than faith. His remarks underscore a theological perspective that emphasizes acceptance of divine creation and cautions against materialistic excesses in personal presentation.
