Residents of Kam Kire and surrounding communities in the Farin Ruwa Development Area of Nasarawa State are urgently appealing to the state government to construct a proper bridge over the river that divides their community.

The call comes as the existing makeshift rope bridge, built through community efforts, poses a significant danger, especially during the rainy season.

The residents, who are predominantly small-scale farmers, have expressed deep concern for their safety and that of their families.

The community’s reliance on the unstable rope bridge has resulted in several close calls, particularly for women and children, who are most vulnerable when crossing the river.

The river, which swells during heavy rains, often makes the rope bridge impassable, cutting off access to essential services such as markets, schools, and healthcare facilities.

The lack of a stable crossing has also hindered the economic activities of the residents, who depend on agriculture as their primary source of livelihood.

The residents are urging the Nasarawa State Government to act promptly before a tragic incident occurs.

They are dealing with corruption for now. No time to fix things.
