Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have successfully recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla vehicle with registration number ABC 258 LD, which was reportedly snatched at gunpoint in Abuja earlier this year.
The vehicle, stolen on May 2nd along the Kuje-Airport road, was tracked down by police and recovered on Saturday, August 17. The breakthrough came when the police traced the vehicle to Ifego Guest Inn, located in the Jabi area of the capital.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed this development in a statement issued on Sunday. She confirmed that the suspected armed robber, identified as Micheal Uke, was apprehended during the operation.
"The suspect had replaced the registration number on the vehicle with another, reading REG NO: AGD 146 JP," SP Adeh stated. "During the search, officers found several items in his possession, including one POS machine, one knife, glass dissolving chemicals, one military jungle hat, and the original registration number of the vehicle."
The recovery of the stolen vehicle and the arrest of the suspect highlight the ongoing efforts of the FCT Police Command to combat crime and ensure the safety of residents in the nation's capital.
