
In a joint operation with a sister security agency, the Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 54-year-old man, Jinta Sati Dan-Anacha, for the illegal possession of a fabricated AK-47 rifle. The arrest took place during a stop-and-search operation along the Jos-Bauchi road on August 19, 2024.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, disclosed in a statement on Friday, August 23, that the suspect had concealed the weapon in a bag and claimed to have been working with a church in Jos, Plateau State. The investigation revealed that Dan-Anacha intended to deliver the rifle to an individual in Gombe State.
"Jinta Sati Dan-Anacha, a resident of Anguwan Bauchi in Jos, Plateau State, was apprehended with a fabricated AK-47 rifle hidden in a bag," Wakil stated. "He claimed to have worked with the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) missionary in Jos for 32 years, but his intentions and potential connections are still under investigation."
The Bauchi State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad, has reaffirmed its commitment to combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety of vulnerable communities. The command has vowed to pursue those who threaten the peace and stability of the state.
