Lasisi Ismail, a 42-year-old man, has been arrested by the Osun Amotekun Corps for allegedly selling a piece of land that did not belong to him in Ilori-Agbedu, Ede, Osun State.
According to reports, Ismail sold the land to a woman identified as Mrs. Afolabi for N800,000 using forged documents. The Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, CSP Isaac Omoyele (rtd), confirmed the arrest, stating that Ismail was apprehended on Sunday after the case was reported at the Amotekun Headquarters in Osogbo.
Omoyele detailed that the suspect had presented a fake receipt, claiming he had purchased the land from the Mogaji family. However, upon investigation, the family produced the original documents, exposing Ismail's deception.
"Amotekun operatives acted swiftly after receiving the report and successfully arrested the suspect at his hideout," Omoyele said. He also advised residents of Osun State to exercise caution when purchasing land to avoid falling victim to fraudulent sellers.
Ismail has been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
