Abdulafatai Abdulsalam, a 200-level Mathematics student at the Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMinna), tragically passed away on Wednesday after collapsing while jogging on campus.
The incident was confirmed by the Student Union Government (SUG) President-Elect, Divine Prince Daniel, in an official statement. Abdulsalam, who was known for his regular jogging routine, suddenly slumped during his exercise, leading to his untimely death.
Daniel expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended heartfelt condolences to Abdulsalam’s family, the Mathematics Department, the School of Physical Sciences, and the entire student body.
“It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of our dear brother Abdulafatai Abdulsalam, a 200-level Mathematics student, who collapsed earlier today while jogging,” Daniel stated. “I offer my deepest sympathies to his family, his department, the School of Physical Sciences, and the Student Union during this difficult time. May Almighty Allah accept him as a pious servant and grant him Aljanat Firdous. We also pray for the strength to bear this great loss.”
Daniel also reiterated his commitment to prioritizing student welfare as outlined in his manifesto, the "SURGE AGENDA." He urged students to be mindful of their health and not hesitate to seek medical attention at the university clinic when needed.
The sudden death of Abdulsalam has sent shockwaves through the FUTMinna community, highlighting the importance of health awareness and prompt medical care among students.
