
The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended nine individuals suspected of vandalizing railway tracks in the state. The arrest followed a joint operation between the NSCDC and the Nigerian Army, spurred by credible intelligence.
Fatima Adamu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Saturday. According to Adamu, the suspects were caught in Zango village, located in the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, where they were allegedly involved in the destruction of Federal Government property.
"Acting on credible intelligence and in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, nine suspects linked to the vandalization of rail tracks and the destruction of Federal Government property in Zango village of Tafawa Balewa LGA, Bauchi State, were apprehended," Adamu stated.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had traveled from Niger State with the intention of carrying out the act.
NSCDC Bauchi Commandant Ilelaboye Oyejide reaffirmed the Corps' commitment to protecting national assets. "The NSCDC will continue to fulfill its core mandate of safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure," he said.
Oyejide also emphasized the need for collective efforts to eliminate criminal elements and ensure a safer society.
