The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended Aligbo Chukwudi Jacob, a businessman from Onitsha, in connection with a drug smuggling operation.
Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy at the NDLEA Headquarters, reported that Jacob was arrested following the interception of a package containing 1.20 kilograms of cannabis. The package, intended for Dubai, UAE, was concealed and detected at the export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
The NDLEA’s strategic team at MMIA uncovered the shipment during routine checks. Subsequent investigations traced the cargo to a courier company based in Onitsha. Jacob was eventually apprehended in Onitsha on August 17, after a series of follow-up operations.
The arrest highlights the agency's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and maintain rigorous surveillance at key transit points.
